Within the framework of the MDG-Fund, the Sebastiya Integrated Conservation and Management Plan on the protection of archaeological sites and features, as well as integrating historic urban fabric and cultural landscape, has been finalized in June 2012.

It was decided to develop a general framework for sustainable tourism (cultural and natural itineraries) and two possible segments of the itinerary were identified: (a) Bethlehem-Jericho via the Wilderness with Monasteries (El-Bariyah), targeting international tourism, and (b) Burqin-Nablus via Sebastia, mainly addressing domestic tourism.

Within the framework of the MDG-Fund, the Sebastiya Integrated Conservation and Management Plan gathers all relevant information on the protection of archaeological sites and features, historic urban fabric and cultural landscape, and is expected to be completed by March 2012.

The Joint Programme was launched on the occasion of the 2009 World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (21 May) with the organization of a ceremony and guided visit in the historical city of Sebastiya (Nablus Governorate).
