Cornelis Flinterman, the Chair of the working group on the draft general recommendation on article 2 of the Convention, also composed of Dorcas CokerAppiah, Silvia Pimentel, Meriem Belmihoub-Zerdani and Victoria Popescu, agreed to circulate a revised draft of the general recommendation to the Committee before the forty-fifth session for comments.

On 26 October 2011, the Secretary-General reappointed Mercedes Doretti (Argentina) for a final period of three years, and appointed Natasa Kandic (Serbia), Maria Cristina de Mendonca (Portugal), Morad el-Shazly (Egypt) and Anastasia Pinto (India) for a three-year term, renewable once.

The Secretary-General has the honour to transmit to the Members of the General Assembly the interim report of the Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Olivier De Schutter, submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 64/159.

The delegation also met with Ms Julie Carney, Deputy Director (Future of Local Audit), Department for Communities and Local Government, to find out more about the UK Government’s plan on the future of audit services to local government bodies after the proposed disbandment of the Audit Commission.

The Committee also extends its condolences to the families of United Nations staff as well as the three prominent Haitian women’s rights activists, Myriam Merlet, Magalie Marcelin and Anne Marie Coriolan, who perished in the earthquake.
