The Commission noted the proposal of Kenya to initiate new work on the completion of the Section on methods of analysis in the Codex Standard on Natural Mineral Waters (CODEX STAN 108-1981) in view of the fact that, in the standard, there was no indication of specific methods of analysis and sampling procedures available for a number of chemical substances mentioned in Sections 3.2.17 (Surface active agents), 3.2.18 (Pesticides and PCBs), 3.2.19 (Mineral oil) and 3.2.20 (Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons), and the proposal to revise the Section on Hygiene to make it easier to use and consistent with the Recommended International Code of Hygienic Practice for Collecting, Processing and Marketing of Natural Mineral Waters (CAC/RCP 33-1985).

It believes that this is a deliberate violation of the human rights of the Syrian residents of the Golan and constitutes a violation of paragraph 8 of Security Council resolution 465 (1980), which called for ensuring the protection of important natural resources of the territories under occupation, including water, as well as paragraph 5 of said resolution which determined that all measures taken by Israel to change the physical character, demographic composition, institutional structure or status of the Palestinian and other Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, or any part thereof, have no legal validity and that Israel’s policy and practices of settling parts of its population and new immigrants in those territories constitute a flagrant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and also constitute a serious obstruction to achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

The redeployment of the post would improve planning and provide aerospace ground support equipment that would result in a safer and cost-effective approach to handling aircraft on the ground, refuelling, handling passengers, handling cargo, adhering to airfield and air terminal security standards and using emergency crash rescue vehicles and equipment in field missions.

In general, the State party should take the necessary practical steps to eradicate stereotypes regarding the position of women in society in general, and with regard to Roma women in particular.

Some delegations expressed the view that early detection and precision tracking were crucial for the management of threats posed by near-Earth objects, and that any measures undertaken to mitigate those threats required coordinated international efforts.

A coastal resource management book highlighting practical lessons learned in Ulugan Bay, Philippines, was produced; the CSI publication Indigenous Parks and People was translated into Thai; and the trilingual, Internet-based “Wise Coastal Practices for Sustainable Human Development” Forum (www.csiwisepractices.org), which was redesigned to improve user accessibility, continues to enhance and influence global dialogue on sustainable living issues in coastal and small island settings.

The provisions on non-discrimination against children are of great significance in that they lay down that all children have equal rights irrespective of their or their parents’ origin, race, ethnicity, nationality, social status, means, gender, language, education, attitude to religion, place of residence, state of health or other circumstances.

United Cities and Local Governments, Metropolis and ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, are members of the World Urban Campaign steering committee and are working collaboratively with each other and with other networks and entities from the private, professional and civil society sectors to elevate the importance of sustainable urbanization in public policy.

The State organs of the People’s Republic of China include the National People’s Congress, the President of the People’s Republic of China, the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China, local People’s Congresses and People’s Governments at all levels, the organs of self-government of the national autonomous areas, the People’s Courts and the People’s Procuratorates.
