Under a training plan and programme, schoolchildren and students learn about the rights of the child, human rights and international humanitarian law at all levels of education.

Those training courses addressed GNSS technology and its applications, including hands-on experience with off-the-shelf software for specific applications and GNSS signal processing and facilitated the further development of the GNSS educational curriculum.

Curricula and textbooks cover various human rights issues, including political and civil rights, economic rights, the rights of the child, women’s rights, social and cultural rights, and the rights of ageing and disabled persons.

Other relevant activities in Costa Rica have included changing the primary education curriculum to include information about climate change, and awarenessraising activities such as the Bandera Azul programme.

Citing substantive linkages between the regional Asia-Pacific Disaster Report and the Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction, the Committee recommended that the next issues of the two reports, which were scheduled respectively for 2012 and 2013, use common data sources and comparable methodologies and that their outlines be coordinated in order to create synergies and maximize their impact.
