On 16 April 2012, the President visited the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, providing a briefing on the Tribunal’s completion strategy, the challenges it faced, and the Tribunal’s transition to the Residual Mechanism.

In the Medical Services Section, the establishment of 15 additional national posts (6 National Officers and 9 national General Service staff) is proposed, as the Section has over the past years expanded the services it provides, which include round-the-clock operation of the UNOCI headquarters clinic, which is now functioning at level I-plus rather than the previous level I; patients are followed up at their homes after discharge from level III hospitals; patients are regularly visited in the 11 level III hospitals in Abidjan and in Sector West and Sector East; doctors in the regional headquarters perform outreach activity by visiting remote offices twice a week; support is provided to the Government during important functions and to the United Nations country team as part of the United Nations integrated framework; and medical support is proposed to be provided eight hours a day at the logistics base in Koumassi as opposed to the current two hours a day.

The Assembly further called upon Israel to cease its destruction of vital infrastructure, including water pipelines and sewage networks, which had a negative impact on the natural resources of the Palestinian people; and requested the Secretary-General to report to the Assembly at its sixty-fifth session on the implementation of the resolution (resolution 64/185).

After a brief resumption resulting from the considerable efforts undertaken by the United States Government, it has not been possible to resume direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, despite the fact that they represent the best option for achieving a comprehensive, lasting and mutually acceptable solution that would lead to the establishment of a political and economically viable Palestinian State, in accordance with the relevant Security Council resolutions, the Road Map and the Arab Peace Initiative, as well as the Quartet statements of March and September 2010 and February 2011.

The organisation includes the most economically developed countries to create ‘the richest club’, an exclusive organisation representing less than 1/6 of the world’s population, and providing about 2/3 of the global production of goods, 3/5 of world exports and 4/5 of the total public development aid.

In order to enhance substantially theshare of least developed countries in world trade and its contribution to their development, they need to be provided with enhanced and predictable market access by their partners, support for establishing cost and quality competitive export supply capacity and the building of trade-related infrastructure.
