The term in excess of three years is beneficial to the Company because (i) any term shorter than the License Term and the Secondary Trademark License Term would increase the risks associated with, and lower the returns on, the Group’s investment in its brand building of the Philips Contributed Business; (ii) following Completion, the Group is expected to invest substantial management effort to broaden the Philips Contributed Business’ product range and market share, the benefits of which will extend beyond three years; and (iii) it is the intention of the Company to strengthen the Philips Contributed Business and the presence of the Philips Trademarks and the Secondary Trademark in the markets in which the Scope Products are sold.

In that regard, one delegation stressed the importance of intergovernmental processes and cooperation in connection with prevention, preparedness and post-disaster reconstruction.

As the Council’s meeting addresses the issue of nuclear-weapon-free zones, NAM reaffirms the need for the speedy establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East in accordance with Security Council resolution 487 (1981) and paragraph 14 of Council resolution 687 (1991) and the relevant General Assembly resolutions adopted by consensus; and, pending its establishment, NAM demands that Israel, the only country in the region that has not joined the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons or declared its intention to do so, renounce possession of nuclear weapons, accede to the Treaty without further delay, place promptly all its nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency fullscope safeguards according to Security Council resolution 487 (1981) and conduct its nuclear-related activities in conformity with the non-proliferation regime.

By its resolution 65/310, the General Assembly welcomed the report of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (A/65/19), decided that the Special Committee, in accordance with its mandate, should continue its efforts for a comprehensive review of the whole question of peacekeeping operations in all their aspects, review the implementation of its previous proposals and consider any new proposals so as to enhance the capacity of the United Nations to fulfil its responsibilities in this field, and requested the Committee to submit a report on its work to the General Assembly at its sixty-sixth session.

It is worth mentioning that, as a non-resident agency and in the face of inadequate financial resources and staff to carry out missions to participate in the numerous meetings, UNESCO’s participation in meetings of the UNCTs, UNSTs and various United Nations theme and joint groups (outside of the ones in Jamaica) is limited, and done mainly through e-mail contributions and teleconference (where possible).

(E) The Board may on any occasion when it makes a determination pursuant to paragraph (A) of this Bye-law, resolve that no allotment of shares or rights of election for shares to be issued pursuant to such determination shall be made available or made to any shareholders with registered addresses in any particular territory or territories or to a Depositary where the allotment of shares or the circulation of an offer of such rights of election would or might, in the opinion of the Board, be unlawful or would or might, in the opinion of the Board, be unlawful in the absence of a registration statement or other special formalities, and in such event the provision aforesaid shall be read and construed subject to such resolution and the only entitlement of shareholders in any such territory or territories shall be to receive in cash the relevant dividend resolved to be paid or declared.

The Executive Committee commends the Government of Argentina for its achievements during the current phase particularly on the phase-out of CFC in the production sector, and expresses the expectation that, in the next two years, Argentina will continue the implementation of its programmed activities with outstanding progress, and will sustain and build upon its current levels of reductions in CFCs.

This is particularly in light of paragraph 2 of decision XX/15 through which the Parties to the Montreal Protocol requested the Executive Committee when considering ODS phase-out projects for Iraq to take into account the special situation of this new Party, which may face difficulties in the phase-out of Annexes A and B substances, and to be flexible in considering the project proposals, without prejudice to the possible review of the non-compliance situation of Iraq by the Parties.

The updated Model Strategies and Practical Measures recognize that some special groups of women are particularly vulnerable to violence, either because of their nationality, ethnicity, religion or language, or because they belong to an indigenous group, are migrants, are stateless, are refugees, live in underdeveloped, rural or remote communities, are homeless, are in institutions or in detention, have disabilities, are elderly, are widowed or live in conflict, post-conflict or disaster situations, and as such they require special attention, intervention and protection in the development of crime prevention and criminal justice responses to violence against women.

Furthermore, as noted in paragraph 2 above, pursuant to General Assembly resolution 63/266, the Secretary-General [...] [...]
