In this regard, the analysing group noted that both could benefit if Chile provided updates relative to these timelines at meetings of the Standing Committees, Meetings of the States Parties, and Review Conferences.

Bosnia and Herzegovina attaches high importance to the implementation of the measures identified in document S/2006/507, for we are confident that it could help to promote the Security Council’s transparency, interaction with the United Nations membership and efficiency.

The Secretary-General, as the custodian of the Headquarters Agreement, shall reinforce the implementation of the Agreement, in particular its article IV, section 11 and section 13 (a), governing the host country’s legal obligation to grant entry visas to the officials of all Member States attending United Nations meetings.

Public interest is declared: (a) for national interest works – by the Parliament; (b) for local interest works of the territorial administrative unit – by its council; (c) for the public interest of more than one raion and/or municipalities – by their councils, and in case of divergences – by the Government; (d) for public interest works of more than one city and/or village in one raion – by the councils of the cities and/or villages, and in case of divergences – by the raion council.

The Society was represented at the following United Nations meetings: (a) the sessions of the Human Rights Council in June 2006, December 2007 and June 2008 in Geneva — a representative from the New England Law School in Boston attended; (b) the sessions of the Human Rights Committee in March 2006, March 2007 and March 2008 in New York — a representative from the New England Law School in Boston attended the sessions; (c) the meeting of the United Nations Law of the Sea in June 2008, in New York — a representative from the University of Cordoba in Spain attended.

As the presidency’s concept paper (S/2010/165) reminds us, the Security Council is mandated by the Charter to act on behalf of the United Nations membership to ensure prompt and effective action on its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.

The General Assembly shall meet at the Headquarters of the United Nations unless convened elsewhere in pursuance of a decision taken at a previous session or at the request of a majority of the Members of the United Nations.

In the same resolution, the Conference requested the Secretariat, subject to the availability of extrabudgetary resources, to continue to perform the functions of an international observatory gathering existing information on good practices in preventing corruption, thereby focusing in particular on systematizing and disseminating the information received from States parties and, at the request of the Working Group or the Conference and based on that information, to provide information on lessons learned and the adaptability of good practices, as well as related technical assistance activities, which could be offered to States parties upon request.

To overcome these challenges, for example in the operation of the OHCHR Fact-Finding Mission to the Syrian Arab Republic (2011), the Panel of Experts on Sri Lanka and the FactFinding Mission on the Gaza Conflict and its follow-up expert committees, these bodies have resorted to visiting neighbouring countries to meet with persons who may have first-hand information on the events under investigation, inviting witnesses and victims to testify outside their country, relying more heavily on official statements and material in the public domain, as well as on informal contacts with individuals able to relay official positions.

Recalling the principle of equivalency between the remuneration of the judges of the Tribunal and the members of the International Court of Justice, which had been followed by the Meeting of States Parties since 1996, the Registrar drew the attention of the Meeting to the proposal contained in document SPLOS/224, according to which, in the case of future revisions of the remuneration of the members of the International Court of Justice, the same adjustments should be automatically applied to the judges of the Tribunal.

(b) Emergency special sessions pursuant to General Assembly resolution 377 A (V) shall be convened within twenty-four hours of the receipt by the Secretary-General of a request for such a session from the Security Council, on the vote of any nine members thereof, or of a request from a majority of the Members of the United Nations expressed by vote in the Interim Committee or otherwise, or of the concurrence of a majority of Members as provided in rule 9.
