While I greatly appreciate the remarks made by Honourable Members, I am greatly disappointed by some of the remarks made by individual Members against me personally by way of innuendo.

In the political and diplomatic manoeuvrings conducted to solicit the adoption of resolution 1907 (2009), the accusations levelled against Eritrea were invariably characterized by innuendos, fabrications and murky “evidence”.

Escherichia coli count, presence of salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus count were used to re flect the m icrobiological quality of the pre-cut fruits.

Hence - in sharp contrast to the Hindi ahimsa, a characteristic tenet of Buddhism, which prohibits the killing of any creature, even the smallest and the most noxious insect - to kill as many as possible of the Khrafstras, or noxious creatures of the Evil Spirit (such as wolves, serpents, snakes, locusts, intestinal worms, ants), is one of the most meritorious of religious actions.

The media is trying to plant some insidious intentions, and if those insinuations reflect anything at all, they reflect the intentions of some who would want to use chemical materials against our people in order to find a pretext to accuse the Syrian Government and garner the support of the Security Council and international public opinion against Syria.

The authorities of Nagorny Karabakh, who have been deprived of the possibility of providing their own direct response in international organizations to the propaganda and fabrications put about by Azerbaijan, which run entirely counter to the efforts by the international community to settle the conflict, are naturally obliged to appeal to the representatives of Armenia at international organizations, including the United Nations, requesting them to put forward the position of Nagorny Karabakh in response to the insinuations made by Azerbaijan.

The presence in urine of salbutamol in excess of 1000 ng/mL or formoterol in excess of 30 ng/mL is presumed not to be an intended therapeutic use of the substance and will be considered as an Adverse Analytical Finding unless the Athlete proves, through a controlled pharmacokinetic study, that the abnormal result was the consequence of the use of the therapeutic inhaled dose up to the maximum indicated above.

Subsequently, Albania, Angola, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Benin, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, China, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Djibouti, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Morocco, Poland, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Rwanda, Senegal, Spain, Thailand, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United States of America and Zimbabwe joined the co-sponsors.

a) To define “pesticide” and other related terms in a way consistent with Codex; b) To provide a list of maximum residue limits (MRLs) and extraneous maximum residue limits (EMRLs), to adopt MRLs/EMRLs recommended by Codex as the backbone as well as the Codex’s classification of foods; c) To prohibit the import and sale of the concerned food for which no MRL/EMRL had been specified, unless DFEH was satisfied that the detected level would not be dangerous or prejudicial to health; d) To provide a list of exempted substances; e) To accept applications for adding / revising MRLs and exempted substances; f) To dovetail the proposed Regulation with the registration of pesticides for use on food crops under the PO, Cap. 133; and g) To commence the proposed Regulation after a two-year grace period.
