Statements were made by representatives of 34 Parties, including statements on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, the Umbrella Group, the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), the Environmental Integrity Group (EIG), the European Union and its member States, the least developed countries (LDCs), the African Group and the Coalition for Rainforest Nations.

Statements were also made by representatives of NGOs from the following constituencies: environmental NGOs, youth, indigenous peoples organizations, local government and municipal authorities, and trade unions.

214. Also at the 4th meeting, closing statements were made by representatives of 11 Parties, including statements on behalf of the European Union and its member States, the Group of 77 and China, the Umbrella Group, the EIG, the LDCs, the African Group, SICA and AOSIS.

He called attention to the special situation of refugees residing in East Jerusalem, a population approximately 70,000 strong, whose lives and livelihoods were particularly exposed to severe risks from house demolitions and forced evictions.

The Economic and Social Council, in its decision 2011/258, entitled “Improving the governance and financial situation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime: extension of the mandate of the standing open-ended intergovernmental working group on improving the governance and financial situation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime”, reaffirmed the role of the Commission as the governing body of the United Nations on matters of crime prevention and criminal justice and as the governing body of the crime programme of UNODC.
