Since the Gucci partnership with UNICEF began in 2005, Gucci has committed over USD 12 million to support UNICEF HIV/AIDS and education initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, where over 11 million children have lost one or both parents to the disease and 29 million children are denied access to a basic education.

The Committee is concerned that this measure unnecessarily severs the connection between parent and child and may result in a violation of the child’s right to maintain personal relations and direct contact with both parents (art. 9, para. 3).
