Within the framework of the ongoing efforts to enhance institutional and human capacities in Africa and with funding from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ICTP supported the creation of a National Mathematical Centre in Abuja (Nigeria), and launched a programme for training and research in Italian laboratories with emphasis on the African region.

This follows my Government’s earlier decision to withdraw Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) soldiers from Abyei, asnoted by the Secretary-General in his most recent report on the situationin Abyei (S/2012/175), and our recent decision to voluntarily withdraw SPLA forces from Panthou (Heglig).

The Gypsy Development Programme is one of the main projects intended to assist the Gypsy population, and its goal is to enable this population to access standard public services in the areas of education, health, housing and employment, inter alia, under the same conditions as the rest of the population.

It is to be underlined that in 2007, besides the 9 professional artistic groups which have their activity within three concert institutions (the National Philharmonic, The Organ Hall and “Moldova-Concert”), another 2 new groups have been founded: The Choir of Gypsy Songs and Dances within the Culture and Art Centre “Ginta Latină” and the Choir of Accordionists “Concertino” within the Organ Hall.

Regarding the field support and coordination office, Deputy Executive Director Omar Abdi clarified that creation of the office had been postponed pending the review of functions, roles and responsibilities planned under the Accountability Initiative.

Study materials included the twelvevolume Tarbiyah Jihadiyah (Jihad Education), a series of writings and lectures by AbdullahAzzam (and a staple of teacher training programs in JI schools); Aqidah Islam al-Qaidah, translated from the Arabic by Darwo for Kafayeh Cipta Media; and Iman wal Kufur by Abdul Qadir bin Abdul Aziz aka Dr Fadl, the Egyptian radical.
