The United Nations Development Group Action Plan on the Millennium Declaration, MDGs and other International Development Goals, 2006-08 aims at “renewal of resolve and urgency […] to seize an historic opportunity to improve the lives of the poor and marginalized whilst demonstrating the value and efficacy of the United Nations system in development cooperation.

We reaffirm that food security and rural and agricultural development must be adequately and urgently addressed in the context of national development and response strategies and, in this context, will enhance the contributions of indigenous and local communities, as appropriate.
