Both the President and the Executive Director paid tribute to Deputy Executive Director Saad Houry for his dedicated service to UNICEF for over 30 years.

The principle underlying the six policy statements presented below is that UNESCO needs a workforce that is competent, professional, responsive, versatile, diverse, mobile and committed so that it can respond to the challenges set by Member States in the C/4 and C/5 documents.

First is our remarkable team in action all overthe world: our technicians in our laboratories in Japan, England and the United States who set up complicated OEM axle and gearbox testing with amazing speed and run them with remarkable precision; our engineers running field trials in some of the harshest environments you can think of to test new Anglamol additives; our scientists who create new products rapidly to meet the needs of our customers and OEMs; and our global manufacturing, sales and marketing personnel who are keenly focused on meeting our customer’s product needs.

We would finally like to reiterate our gratitude to the personnel of United Nations missions for their dedicated work and daily commitment to advancing peace and security.

Established in 1993, the Lux Award honors the late AMETEK Chairman Dr. John H. Lux, who provided 27 years of dedicated leadership to the Company and made numerous contributions to technology, science, engineering, and public service.

Our guys work hard to meet deadlines, and we rarely fail to get things done when we say we will.

The Division was confident that, with diligent bottom-up stock selection and prudent asset allocation, the Fund would continue to provide a secure foundation for the payment of pension benefits, while the implementation of new risk management software would provide an additional level of safety.

I also wish to join others in expressing our support for the Secretary-General’s report (S/2010/463) on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and thanking Special Representative Staffan de Mistura for his dedication and tireless efforts in Afghanistan.

In order to see the glow worms for the first time in our lives, three of us, grabbed a torch light, and went into the Minnehaha forest.

Most speakers also commended the work of his dedicated staff, many of whom work in very dangerous and difficult circumstances, and they called upon UNHCR to further strengthen measures to ensure their safety and security.

In particular, I would like to extend Canada’s appreciation to Ms. Koehler for her dedication and commitment over the past several years and, on behalf of Canada, to wish her the best as she embarks on new endeavours.

Speaking of her tenure as Executive Director, which began in 2005, she said the dedicated staff members of UNICEF were one reason why her years at the organization have been among the most rewarding of her life.

My delegation also extends its appreciation to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Staffan de Mistura, as well as to the members of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), for their dedication in carrying out their duties under the challenging situation prevailing in the country.

The people who work for UNDP are its soul, or “the individual and her/his aspirations, responsibilities, values and capabilities [are] at the centre of what we do”.24 The UNDP human resources strategy recognizes that skilled, dedicated staff who value integrity, transparency, mutual respect and accountability, are the main means through which UNDP can achieve its goals of improving people’s lives in the countries it serves.
