Several delegations considered that further sustained efforts needed to be conducted to increase the scope and visibility of UNESCO’s efforts in leading the United Nations Decade on Educationfor Sustainable Development (DESD) (2005-2014).

If the labour inspector ascertains that the work is not prohibited for a minor and that the working conditions are in accordance with the legal requirements, the labour inspector may issue a consent to employ the minor.

At its sixty-sixth session, the General Assembly stressed the importance of the work of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and Personal Representative of the Secretary-General to the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Authority and of the steps taken under the auspices of the Secretary-General to ensure the achievement of a coordinated mechanism for United Nations activities throughout the occupied territories, and requested the Secretary-General to submit a report to the Assembly at its sixty-seventh session, through the Economic and Social Council, on the implementation of the resolution, containing an assessment of the assistance actually received by the Palestinian people and of the needs still unmet and specific proposals for responding effectively to them (resolution 66/118).

The organization deeply appreciates the Commission’s workfor women’s equality globally, which is extremely relevant to its efforts to advocate the advancement of women’s equality in Canada.

Building onthe work carriedout during the first three sessions of the Forum and the recommendations emanating from that work, the fourth session focused on the rights of and opportunities for minority women to have access to education, to take part effectively in economic life, to have access to labour markets and to participate fully in social, cultural and political life.

In light of the judgment of 30 November 2010, it appears that on all these points, the Court confirms the analyses made in the context of the Commission’s work on the topic.

The findings of the 2008 Gender Evaluation continue to be the basis for strengthening UNICEF work forgender equality results.

We reiterate our support for UNIPSIL and the work of the Sierra Leone configuration of the Peacebuilding Commission, and call for greater support from the international community for the processes under way in Sierra Leone.

In the same resolution, the Council took note of the recommendation of the Secretary-General concerning the efforts the Institute could make in laying the groundwork for more efficient training and research service provision within the United Nations system (E/2008/58, para. 67).

She also noted the growing contribution of the workof the Tribunal, the Authority and the Commission.

This activity provided strong visibility for UNESCO’s work on the integration of migrants in urban settings at the World Urban Forum in Rio de Janeiro on the theme “The Right to the City Bridging the Urban Divide”.

It is therefore essential to recognize the primacy and importance of the efforts already made by the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the World Bank, the United Nations Office for West Africa and the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa, among others, and to enhance coordination among those efforts.

The report was produced in conjunction with the UNICEF annual report of the Executive Director to the Economic and Social Council (E/2011/6–E/ICEF/2011/3), which gives more detailed information and examples of UNICEF work in areas emphasized in General Assembly resolution 62/208 of 19 December 2007on the triennial comprehensive policy review of operational activities for development of the United Nations system.

Some delegations noted with appreciation thework ofthe secretariat in preparing document SPLOS/208, which provided useful insight on options to address the issue of the workload of the Commission.

The workhas been undertaken in the university in Lanzhou making liaison with the project team based in Beijing difficult especially with the limited consultancy levels remaining.

Following efforts in the United States Congress, a study measuring the impact of the change in minimum wage had confirmed the serious damage that the initiative had inflicted on the economy and, consequently, the scheduled minimum wage increases had been delayed pending further study.

The Representative of FAO, further informed the Commission regarding the work carried out by FAO and WHO in relation to the web-based support tools to be instrumental for countries in the implementation of the adopted guideline on the control of Campylobacter and Salmonella in poultry products.

Paragraph 153 of the Accra Accord requests UNCTAD, “taking into account the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Development Agenda and without prejudice to the work undertaken in other forums, to, within its mandate, continue to undertake research and analysis on trade and development aspects of intellectual property, including in the areas of investment and technology.

In the last year, UNDP has significantly strengthened capacity development efforts, with nearly half of countries where UNDP currently serves as principal recipient developing formal capacity plans in addition to ongoing efforts.

The Chair introduced document FCCC/AWGLCA/2010/8, containing the second iteration of the text to facilitate negotiations among Parties,1 reflecting her sense of how the text could be advanced based on the workundertaken by the AWG-LCA at its tenth session.

However, work remains to be done in setting up mitigation strategies; carrying out a business impact analysis, together with the Office of Information and Communications Technology, to validate the prioritization of business processes at departmental level, train managers and critical staff to ensure they are able to continue critical business processes, and testing the business continuity plans and ensuring their maintenance (see also paragraphs 42 to 45 of document A/64/7/Add.9 in the present supplement).
