Given Ann's illness and the fact that she is currently the charity's main fundraiser, the Award will be allocated to the employment of a full time professional fundraiser for two years, who in year one will be tasked to raise £160,000 to purchase 300 epilepsy alarms.

MLIRE is reforming all outdated labour policies, legislations, institutions and administration systems with the aim of providing a progressive business environment that promotes flexibility in wage setting, stableemployment relationships, progressive health and safety standards, better workers compensation system, improved terms and conditions of employment, speedy and effective conflict resolution system and good faith bargaining that will enhance productivity.

The current regulatory framework (specifically the Staff Rules and Staff Regulations, Secretary-General’s bulletins, administrative instructions and other relevant administrative issuances as well as the Standards of conduct for the international civil service of 2001 (see A/56/30, annex II),1 addressed in greater detail below) includes provisions governing actual or potential conflicts of interest arising from financial interests, personal relationships between staff members and other stakeholders, the receipt of honours, decorations, favours, gifts or remuneration by third parties, as well as parameters addressing conflicting loyalties that may result from outside employment or occupation or other outside activities, including political activities.

The notice period depends on the type of contract concluded by the parties and the actual duration of the employment.

Such special remuneration may be made payable to such Director in addition to or in substitution for his ordinary remuneration as a Director, and may be made payable by way of salary, commission or participation in profits or otherwise as may be arranged.

(d) To carry on the business of construction and building contractors, interior and exterior decorators, and owners of land and hereditaments, messuages and tenements and any estate or interest therein Hong Kong Stamp Duty $20.00 5-8-65 — 2 — respectively, to manage estates and properties, to receive and collect rents, and to act as attorneys or factors and transact all kinds of agency and commission business so far as regards lands and hereditaments, messuages and tenements, and any estate or interest therein respectively for any person or persons, company or corporation for such commission or consideration and upon such terms and conditions as the Company shall think fit.

In this context, the report addresses issues concerning work permits for spouses and children, domestic helpers and non-dependent family members of staff; the acquisition, rental and sale of real estate by staff; the integration of staff into the social security system of host countries; the possibility for staff members and their families to retire in the host countries; and the payment of value added tax (VAT) and other taxes, as well as income taxation issues.

(m) To carry on in any part of the world all or any of the businesses of importers, exporters, general traders, commissionagents, indent agents, forwarding agents, gem merchants, jewellers, goldsmiths, silversmiths, watch and clock makers, electro-platers, dressing-bag makers, carriers, tourist agents and contractors, warehousemen, tobacco and cigar merchants, agents for theatrical and opera box office, advertising contractors and agents, and holders of exhibition, and to buy, sell, import, export, manufacture, manipulate, turn to account and prepare for market, and deal in goods, wares, materials provisions, produce, merchandise, commodities, substances, articles and chattels of all kinds, both wholesale and retail, and to transact every kind of agency business and to undertake the business of manufacturers’ representatives.

Child labour is particularly common in the smallscale informal sector, and children work in a large variety of activities, as part of family enterprises, as unpaid family workers or employedby others.

These results are explained by the hiring ratios of women for P-5 and Director posts which remain insufficient to increase the percentage of women at these levels.

(b) A Director may hold any other office or place of profit with the Company (except that of Auditors) in conjunction with his office of Director for such period and upon such terms as the Board may determine, and may be paid such extra remuneration therefor (whether by way of salary, commission, participation in profit or otherwise) as the Board may determine, and such extra remuneration shall be in addition to any remuneration provided for by or pursuant to any other Articles.

Domestic workers without papers include women who should qualify for asylum or other protected status, but face deportation because States fail to respect their international obligations not to subject to refoulement persons who would face persecution or torture upon their return.27 Victims of gender-based persecution — e.g. women at risk of “honour” killings — are also prone to becoming undocumented migrants vulnerable to exploitation, because national authorities fail to recognize such persecution or unrealistically assume that the victim has “internal flight alternatives” in her country of origin.

As documented by the Group, in 2009 Serge Mel Meledje was appointed Managing Director of Darkwood Logistics and UAZ-CI (see annex 21); however, Mr. Meledje’s real role was to cash cheques issued by the Treasury, keeping a personal commission of 0.05 to 0.08 per cent of the amount of the cheques (see annex 22).

Any Director who, by request, goes or resides abroad for any purpose of the Company or who performs services which in the opinion of the Board go beyond the ordinary duties of a Director may be paid such extra remuneration (whether by way of salary, commission, participation in profits or otherwise) as the Board may determine and such extra remuneration shall be in addition to or in substitution for any ordinary remuneration provided for by or pursuant to any other Bye-law.

The Panel continued its investigations of 2011 into Ivorian militia and Liberian mercenaries residing in Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee and Maryland Counties primarily, as the Panel determined in its final 2011 report (S/2011/757) that those groups represented the most significant threat to the arms embargo imposed on non-governmental entities and individuals operating in Liberia in accordance with paragraph 4 of resolution 1903 (2009).

A recent issue of ‘Bal Swaraj’ highlighted other serious issues, as well, including the plight of a girl suffering from polio, the perils of chewing tobacco, the problems of children working illegally as carpenters and in hotels, and the poverty that prevents them from attending classes.

The amount can be reimbursed only after the fulfilment of two conditions: that the person delegated by the Labour Office is employed in a full-time position within the next 12 months and that the employee is still employed after this time.
