The delegation of Japan referred to its Government’s cooperation with ESCAP in supporting the campaign, which it noted had produced solid and tangible results, particularly through the effective and results-oriented management of the project by the secretariat.

Monitoring and evaluation reports suggest that the project has served a useful purpose in popularizing science, in the adoption of a practical hands-on approach to teaching of science and mathematics, in stimulating innovative teaching methods in collaboration with the associations of science and mathematics teachers in Nigeria and in influencing several state governments to provide better support to science education in their schools.

The financial institutions to which the methodology applies are banks and non banking institutions including: insurance companies, credit unions, building societies, cooperatives, money dealers, postal agencies, real estate dealers, motor vehicle dealers, and courier services.

Enhance inter-agency cooperation in the field, including through United Nations country teams, gender theme groups and gender advisers and units, and improve cooperation with national Governments, women’s national machineries for the advancement of women and promotion of gender equality, and civil society.

In collaboration with UNICEF, the Ministry is also studying the situation of minors in conflict with the law and is currently reviewing the practical considerations of establishing a juvenile justice system.

In the light of the failure of the State party to cooperate with the Committee on the matter before it, due weight must be given to the author’s allegations, to the extent that they have been substantiated.

Despite the international community’s condemnation of such abusive practices, Israel remained heedless of humanitarian and moral standards and had persisted for decades in disregarding resolutions such as General Assembly resolution 2443 (XXIII), had consistently refused to allow the Fourth Committee of the General Assembly to visit the occupied Arab territories and had shown no desire to cooperate with the international community to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

In cooperation with the National Human Rights Commission and with the assistance of the regional office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and funding from United Nations agencies, the Ministry of Justice, responsible for human rights, has distributed documents on international human rights instruments to representatives from Government ministries and civil society, as well as to judges, lawyers and law enforcement officials.

To facilitate the dissemination of good practices and lessons learned in fostering national capacities for country-led evaluation systems, UNICEF published and widely disseminated — in partnership with the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, the World Food Programme, the International Labour Organization, the United Nations Development Fund for Women, the International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation and the International Development Evaluation Association — a book collecting the wisdom and experiences of 40 internationally recognized experts.
