Increasing resistance of the malaria parasite to chloroquine and sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine — previously the most widely used antimalarial treatments — has prompted sixty-eight countries to change their national treatment protocols to incorporate the new and highly-effective artemisinin-based combination therapies or ACTs.

Intermittent preventive treatment involves providing pregnant women with at least two doses of an anti-malarial drug, currently sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine (SP), at each scheduled antenatal visit after the first trimester, whether they show symptoms of infection with malaria or not.

Sulfochem™ alkyl sulfates (AS) and alkyl ether sulfates (AES) are also known by their International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredient (INCI) names such as ammonium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium lauryl sulfate, sodium cocosulfate, TEA-lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, ammonium myreth sulfate, sodium myreth sulfate, and sodium trideceth sulfate.

Plenty of chemicals, to be used for surface pre-treatment or solvent cementing, are mentioned in this guide for adhesive bonding of Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products’ materials: dimethylacetamide, dimethylformamide, dioxane, ethanol (ethyl alcohol), formic acid, hexafluoroacetonesesquihydrate, isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol), methylene chloride, perchloroethylene (tetrachloroethylene), phenol, phosphoric acid, potassium dichromate, p-toluene-sulfonic acid, resorcinol, sodium dichromate, sulphuric acid, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, trichlorotrifluoroethane.

For trade, they should use ingredients that were low in asparagines and reducing sugars when producing products processed at high temperature and should not cook food excessively.

The Delegation of Colombia noted that the MRLs proposed for acephate and methamidophos in rice, husked should be adopted at Step 5 only and be further considered by the Committee on Pesticide Residues as the national consumption data for this product exceeded the Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) established by the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meeting on Residues of Pesticides (JMPR) therefore the MRLs proposed would not protect consumers’ health.

The INEDs confirmed that the aforesaid connected transactions were entered into (a) in the ordinary and usual course of business of the Group; (b) either on normal commercial terms or on terms no less favourable to the Group than terms available to or from independent third parties; and (c) in accordance with the relevant agreements governing them on terms that are fair and reasonable and in the interests of the shareholders of the Company as a whole.

It is therefore important for the industry to continue closely monitor the manufacturing process, identify potentially problematic conditions and develop methods that would prevent or reduce the formation of EC and maintain EC contamination at the lowest level possible during processing and storage.

(b) amend regulation 19 to clarify that the maximum site coverage and maximum plot ratio permitted in respect of a building or buildings on a “class A site”, “class B site” or “class C site” are to be determined in accordance with regulations 20 and 21 respectively, and that the height of a building or buildings and the maximum site coverage and maximum plot ratio permitted in respect of a building or buildings on any other site are to be determined by the Building Authority.

The treatment demand related to use of amphetamine-type stimulants is relatively small, but it has considerably increased worldwide over the past decade, especially in South-East Asia, Oceania and North America.

Increasing both the number of food items and the number of samples per individual food commodity for laboratory analysis could provide a more comprehensive coverage and a more precise estimate of the range and average EC concentration of fermented foods in the Hong Kong market.

Against this background, one supernumerary post of AOSGB (D3) has been created in the ETWB under delegated authority from Finance Committee (FC) with effect from 29 February 2004 to help oversee the operation of the merger steering committee and the merger management committee; to monitor the progress of the negotiations and follow up on matters that may require the Government’s input/actions to facilitate the negotiations; to provide policy guidance on a whole range of merger-related transport issues arising from the negotiations; to maintain liaison with major stakeholders as well as to work hand in hand with the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB) on the valuation and financial aspects of the possible merger and the management of Government’s consultant(s) for the merger exercise.

Because of this, the data could not be used directly to re-evaluate ractopamine residue levels in pigs, but when assumptions are made to estimate free ractopamine levels, based on the ratio of free ractopamine to total residues, the data submitted by China could confirm the results from the residue studies that formed the basis for the proposed MRLs in pig tissues.
