In 2007/08, UNIFIL increased its efforts to support civil society, including the implementation of projects aimed at empowering and training young people in order to improve the understanding of the Force’s mandate and activities, the rehabilitation of a community centre run by a steering committee composed of local non-governmental organizations and the municipality, and the establishment of a “multicultural” centre which will host activities on capacity-building and gender mainstream awareness.
