Their susceptibility to the consequences of climate change, including rising ocean temperatures and acidity and rising sea levels, has led to projections that such reefs will be wiped out within 50 to 100 years.

In fact, by adopting such actions, the balance of rights and obligations of States parties would be disturbed, the existing discrimination and gap between the haves and have-nots in the Treaty would be widened and, finally, the very basis of the fundamental bargain of the Treaty would be destroyed.

It is the primary cause of the failure of the peace process, the collapse of dozens of opportunities and the burial of the great hopes that arose from the signing of the Declaration of Principles in 1993 between the Palestine Liberation Organization and Israel to achieve a just peace that would begin a new era for our region.

If we go back to Hurricane Mitch in Honduras, the President of that country at that time called it the biggest disaster in the history of the nation, with 50 years of development lost literally in a matter of hours.

However, the new product development process is far from simple, requiring the involvement of all of a manufacturer’s operational areas and typically resulting in long lead times and higher costs that take away from the beneficial effects that releasing a new product is expected to have.

Unless promptly addressed, they may not only derail decades of socioeconomic progress in Asia and the Pacific, but could also manifest in social and political unrest.

The failure of States to guarantee the right of women to a life free from violence allows for a continuum of violence that can end in the deaths of women.

(b) Technical/programme management: the Authority should consider, as harvesting operations come closer to reality, that individual contractor advocacy within the Authority might be well served by programme managers who are able to work on issues with a more robust technical staff, to minimize the loss of lessons learned from previous research and operations.

In accordance with article 11 of the Rules and Regulations, claims are eligible for inclusion in the Register if: (a) the claimant is a natural or legal person; (b) the claimant has substantially met the technical requirements for submitting a claim; (c) the claim is within the jurisdiction of the Register of Damage; (d) the claimant has established a legal interest in the claimed damage; (e) the claimed damage is material; (f) the claimant has established a causal link between the claimed damage and the construction of the Wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territory; (g) the claimed damage was in fact sustained; (h) the documents and assertions in support of the claim are substantially consistent; and (i) the claim has been established prima facie, based on the information and documents submitted by the claimant, giving the claimant the benefit of the doubt in appropriate cases and bearing in mind the varying circumstances with regard to title and residency status of claimants.

At its sixty-second session, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to update the compilation of decisions of international courts, tribunals and other bodies referring to the articles, and to invite Governments to submit information on their practice in that regard; also requested the Secretary-General to submit that material well in advance of its sixty-fifth session; and decided to further examine, within the framework of a working group of the Sixth Committee, the question of a convention on responsibility of States for internationally wrongful acts or other appropriate action on the basis of the articles (resolution 62/61).

In section V, paragraph 11, of the same resolution, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to seek a more effective strategy to fill current and future language post vacancies at all duty stations in a timely manner, took note of paragraph 92 of the report of the Secretary-General on the pattern of conferences (A/63/119 and Corr.1), and also requested the Secretary-General to hold the competitive examinations for the recruitment of language staff referred to in that paragraph, as well as other examinations beyond 2009, well in advance so as to fill current and future language post vacancies at all duty stations in a timely manner, and to inform the Assembly at its sixty-fourth session of efforts in that regard.
