Kierkegaard
/ˈkɪəkəˌgɑːd/- Kierkegaard, Søren (Aabye) (1813-55), Danish philosopher. A founder of existentialism, he affirmed the importance of individual experience and choice and believed one could know God only through a 'leap of faith', and not through doctrine.
