Holy League
- any of various European alliances sponsored by the papacy during the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. They include the League of 1511-13, formed by Pope Julius Ⅱ to expel Louis Ⅻ of France from Italy, and the French Holy League (also called the Catholic League) of 1576 and 1584, a Catholic extremist league formed during the French Wars of Religion.神圣联盟（15、16、17世纪由罗马教皇建立的多种欧洲同盟, 包括1511-1513年间教皇尤利乌斯二世为把法国的路易十二驱逐出意大利而组成的联盟以及1576年和1584年的法国神圣联盟［亦称天主教联盟］, 后者是在法国宗教战争中天主教极端分子组成的联盟）。
