Fielding
/ˈfiːldɪŋ/- Fielding, Henry (1707-54), English novelist. He provoked the introduction of censorship in theatres with his political satire The Historical Register for 1736. He then turned to writing picaresque novels, notably Joseph Andrews (1742) and Tom Jones (1749).
