Farouk
/fɑːˈruːk/- (1920-65) , king of Egypt, reigned 1936-52. Farouk's defeat in the Arab-Israeli conflict of 1948, together with the general corruption of his reign, led to a military coup in 1952, masterminded by Nasser.
