Zaporizhzhya
/ˌzæpɒˈrɪʒjə/- an industrial city of Ukraine, on the Dnieper River; pop. 781,600 (est. 2009). It developed as a major industrial centre after the construction of a hydroelectric dam in 1932. Russian name ZAPOROZHYE /〈俄〉zəpaˈrɔʒje/. Former name (until 1921) ALEKSANDROVSK.扎波罗热(乌克兰工业城市, 位于第聂伯河河畔, 2009年估计人口781,600; 1932年水电坝建成之后成为主要的工业中心; 俄语名ZAPOROZHYE , 原称ALEKSANDROVSK1921年前)。
