Ward, Mrs Humphry (1851-1920), English writer and anti-suffrage campaigner, niece of Matthew Arnold; née Mary Augusta Arnold. She is best known for several novels dealing with social and religious themes, especially Robert Elsmere (1888). An active opponent of the women's suffrage movement, she became the first president of the Anti-Suffrage League in 1908.
