Cunard
/kjuːˈnɑːd/- Cunard, Sir Samuel (1787-1865), Canadian-born British shipowner. One of the pioneers of the regular transatlantic passenger service, he founded the steamship company which still bears his name with the aid of a contract to carry the mail between Britain and Canada.
