Corn Laws
- (in the UK) a series of 19th-century laws introduced to protect British farmers from foreign competition by allowing grain to be imported only after the price of home-grown wheat had risen above a certain level. They had the unintended effect of forcing up bread prices and were eventually repealed in 1846.(英国)谷物法(19世纪颁布的一系列法律, 规定只有当国内小麦价格超过一定水平时才能进口谷物, 以保护英国农民免受外国竞争的冲击; 因其无意中抬高了面包价格而在1846年被废除)。
