Tower of London
(亦作the Tower)
- a fortress by the Thames just east of the City of London. The oldest part, the White Tower, was begun in 1078. It was later used as a state prison, and is now open to the public as a repository of ancient armour and weapons, and of the Crown jewels.伦敦塔（伦敦城东泰晤士河畔的要塞, 其最古老部分——白塔, 始建于1078年; 该塔后作为国家监狱, 现作为古代盔甲, 武器及王室珠宝展览馆对公众开放）。
