Tamil Nadu
/nɑːˈduː/- a state in the extreme south-east of the Indian peninsula, on the Coromandel Coast, with a largely Tamil-speaking, Hindu population; capital, Madras. Tamil Nadu was formerly an ancient kingdom comprising a much larger area, stretching northwards to Orissa and including the Lakshadweep Islands and part of the Malabar Coast. Former name (until 1968) MADRAS.泰米尔纳德邦(印度半岛最东南端一邦, 临科罗曼德尔海岸, 有大批讲泰米尔语的印度人; 首府马德拉斯; 原为一个比现在面积更大的古国, 向北一直延伸到奥里萨邦, 包括拉克沙群岛和部分马拉巴尔海岸; MADRAS的原称[1968年])。
