Succession, Act of
- (in English history) each of three Acts of Parliament passed during the reign of Henry Ⅷ regarding the succession of his children继承法令(英国历史上亨利八世在位时期议会通过的有关亨利八世继承人的三个法令)。
The first (1534) declared Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon to be invalid, fixing the succession on any child born to Henry's new wife Anne Boleyn. The second (1536) cancelled this, asserting the rights of Jane Seymour and her issue, while the third (1544) determined the order of succession of Henry's three children, the future Edward Ⅵ, Mary Ⅰ, and Elizabeth Ⅰ.
