Brendan, St
/ˈbrendən/- (c.486-c.575) , Irish abbot. The legend of the 'Navigation of Brendan' (c.1050), describing his voyage with a band of monks to a promised land (possibly Orkney or the Hebrides), was widely popular in the Middle Ages.
