- a projected US system of defence against nuclear weapons, using satellites armed with lasers to intercept and destroy intercontinental ballistic missiles. The project was renamed the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization in 1993. Popularly known as STAR WARS.战略防御倡议 （美国的一项防御核武器的计划, 该计划利用由激光装备的卫星拦截并摧毁洲际弹道导弹, 1993年该计划被重新命名为弹道导弹防御组织, 俗称“星球大战”计划）。
