Rommel
/ˈrɔːməl/- Rommel, Erwin (1891-1944), German Field Marshal; known as the Desert Fox. As commander of the Afrika Korps he deployed a series of surprise manoeuvres and succeeded in capturing Tobruk (1942), but was defeated by Montgomery at El Alamein later that year.
