Rafsanjani
/ˌræfsænˈdʒɑːnɪ/- Rafsanjani, Ali Akbar Hashemi (b.1934), Iranian statesman and religious leader, President 1989-97. In 1978 he helped organize the mass demonstrations that led to the shah's overthrow.
