- Greek Mythology the daughter of Pandion, king of Athens. She was turned into a swallow and her sister Procne into a nightingale (or, in Latin versions, into a nightingale with Procne the swallow) when they were being pursued by the cruel Tereus, who had married Procne and raped Philomel【希腊神话】菲洛梅拉(雅典国王潘典恩之女, 和姐姐普洛克涅被凶残的蒂留斯追逼时, 她化作燕子, 而姐姐则化作夜莺[或拉丁语版本中她化作夜莺, 而普洛克涅化作燕子]; 蒂留斯乃普洛克涅之夫, 强奸了菲洛梅拉)。
