WORD TRENDS
People used to worry about being upwardly or downwardly mobile, but in the supposedly classless 21st century mobile primarily refers to mobile phones and other forms of technology that let us communicate and use the Internet on the move. In the Oxford English Corpus most of the words modified by mobile relate to technology, with phone followed by operator, device, service, and network - only the humble mobile home reminds us of a simpler low-tech world. Although cell phone is used in the US rather than mobile phone, mobile is still the adjective associated with it there.

词源
late 15th cent.: via French from Latin mobilis, from movere 'to move'. The noun dates from the 1940s.
