Rhizobium rhizogenes

Rhizobium rhizogenes (formerly Agrobacterium rhizogenes) is a Gram negative soil bacterium that produces hairy root disease in dicotyledonous plants. R. rhizogenes induces the formation of proliferative multi-branched adventitious roots at the site of infection; so-called 'hairy roots'.
