盲肠 Cecum

人体胃肠道: 1=食道，2=胃， 3=十二指肠， 4=小肠， 5=盲肠， 6=阑尾， 7=结肠， 8=直肠， 9=肛门

盲肠，即阑肠，见于人和羊膜动物。

在人体位于腹腔右下部，右中腹长约6到8厘米的大肠起始段结构，形如袋状。

盲肠向上延续为升结肠，下部有一孔通阑尾，同升结肠交接区的内壁有回盲瓣，有防止大肠内含物倒流的作用。

人体的盲肠退化，作用并不明显，而植食性的动物则有一长袋状盲肠，特别是那些不能反刍以消化纤维素食物的动物。

中医文献《难经》称之为“阑门”，是七冲门之一。

盲肠很少发炎，所谓盲肠炎多是阑尾炎的误称。

It receives chyme from the ileum, and connects to the ascending colon of the large intestine. It is separated from the ileum by the ileocecal valve (ICV) or Bauhin's valve. It is also separated from the colon by the cecocolic junction. The appendix is connected to the cecum. While the cecum is usually intraperitoneal, the ascending colon is retroperitoneal.
