化学渗透

化学渗透（或称化学渗透偶联）是离子经过半透膜扩散的现象，这种现象与渗透类似。化学渗透是离子的运动，离子穿过选择性渗透膜，沿电化学梯度移动。更具体地的说，在细胞的呼吸或光合作用过程中，通过氢离子穿过细胞膜的移动产生了ATP。氢离子（质子）将从高的质子浓度的区域扩散到低质子浓度的区域，以产生ATP。氢离子由较多离子的区域渗入较少离子区域，直到内外浓度平衡为止。化学渗透通常发生在细胞的呼吸作用中的ATP合酶（三磷酸腺苷合酶）里，细胞利用该特性来制造ATP（三磷酸腺苷）。
