方解石（英语：calcite）是碳酸钙（CaCO₃）的稳定形态，呈现菱面体或偏三角面体，聚形呈钉头或犬牙状。其中，菱面体有双折射性。

方解石是碳酸盐矿物，在地球的表面广泛分布，石灰岩和大理岩中含有方解石。 在温泉区中也可以找到方解石，它是温泉区的矿脉矿物， 在地洞穴中钟乳石和石笋也可以找到方解石， 方解石还是海洋生物外壳组成的成份，浮游生物，有孔虫类，红色海藻的坚硬部份，一些海绵、棘皮动物、苔藓虫门，和牡蛎壳的主要成份。霰石加热到470°C会变成碳酸钙。 不同颜色的方解石：

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). The other polymorphs are the minerals aragonite and vaterite. Aragonite will change to calcite at 380–470 °C, and vaterite is even less stable.
