书店是销售书籍的零售商。书店可以是小型的独立店舖，或大型连锁式店舖，也可以是网上书店，通过互联网及邮递服务进行交易。

古代的书店叫书肆。书肆一词，始于汉代。此外各朝代还有书林、书舖、书棚、书堂、书屋、书籍铺、书经籍舖等名称，它即刻书又卖书，这些名号，除统称书肆外，宋代以后统称为书坊。书店一名，始见于清朝乾隆年间。在中国近代史上，书店也叫书局。而有些出版社亦会以书店为名，如日本的角川书店、秋田书店等；部份更设有直营店面以零售书籍。
