Vardapet

A vardapet or vartabed (Armenian:վարդապետ, Armenian pronunciation: [vɑɾtʰɑˈpɛt]) is a highly educated archimandrite in the Armenian Apostolic Church tradition who holds a Doctorate in Theology. Members of this order of ecclesiastics frequently have charge of dioceses, with episcopal functions.
