阴间

阴间，又称幽冥、阴司、阴府，或又称幽都、冥界等，是神话和宗教中的概念，指人死以后居住的世界。

中国文化存在普遍的阴阳理论，以现世的人间为阳间或阳界，死后生活的地方是幽冥或阴间。至少在周朝以前，人们就认为人分魂魄，作为阳气的魂和作为阴形的魄结合形成人，人死以后，神魂灵气归于天，精魄形骸归于地，以魂气形魄来解释人前世、现世和来世的演化，并将精灵世界分为三界：地上的人间，天上神灵的天堂，地下精魄的地府。黄泉可能是中国宗教信仰中最早出现的阴间地府的概念。

后来，汉代佛教传入后，受其影响，在道教原有的基础上发展出了系统的地狱体系，即十八层地狱。地府的概念大于地狱，幽冥的概念又大于地府。幽冥泛指亡魂所在的空间，因而不局限于地府，古时凡非阳世即幽冥，甚至包括天神与山精水魅的居地，甚或可能和人间在空间上重合，只是人不能知晓；地狱特指囚禁和惩罚生前罪孽深重的亡魂之地，可以说是阴间地府的监狱和刑场；而一般人死后在地府大多是含笑九泉，像在人间生活一样，上善之人死后甚至成仙成神荣入天堂。
