北极点，又被称为北极（英语：North Pole），最常用于称呼地球上的地理北极，即在地球表面上最北的点，也就是地球的自转轴在北半球与表面相交会的点。北极点周围的地区称为北极地区。

地理上的北极（通常就简称为北极）以下面的解释为准：地球的自转轴与地球表面的两个交点之一（另一个点是南极，就在相对的另一面），地理上的北极是纬度为北纬90°的点，在方向上是真北，在这一点所指向的任何方向都是南方。

南极位于南极洲的大陆上，北极位于北冰洋内。在北极没有土地，只有常年被冰封的冰冷海水在冰层之下流动着，因此不可能像南极一样，创建一个永久的北极驻地。不过苏联以及后来的俄罗斯自1937年起创建许多浮水观测站，其中有些很靠近北极。自2002年起俄罗斯在靠近北极的地方创建一个基地站Barne，是用每年春天施工一段时间的方式进行。2000年的有一些有关北极的研究，研究认为因为北极的气候变迁，北极的冰最终会溶化，预计时间从2016年到21世纪后期甚至更晚。
