Soleas

The soleas (Greek:σόλιον = Latin:solea meaning "an elevated place") is an extension of the sanctuary platform in an Eastern Orthodox temple (church building). The soleas projects beyond the iconostasis, forming a narrow walkway running the full length of the iconostasis.
