帕西人 Parsi

帕西人（古吉拉特语：પારસી），广州、澳门和香港地区译作“巴斯”，其他地区则译作“帕西”或“帕栖”，是主要立足于印度次大陆的一个信仰琐罗亚斯德教的民族。所有侨居印度以外地区的帕西人都来自印度或巴基斯坦。帕西人的祖先是1,000年前从波斯移居印度次大陆的琐罗亚斯德教教徒。

在8-10世纪间，一部分坚持信仰琐罗亚斯德教的波斯人，不愿改信伊斯兰教而移居印度西海岸古吉拉特邦一带。这些波斯移民在印度被称为“帕西人”（Parsi），至今共有10万人左右，仍信琐罗亚斯德教，主要从事工商业，操古吉拉特语。虽然这些帕西人并非穆斯林，但这是我们在印度历史上最早见到的“帕西”（Parsi）一词，按《大英百科全书》的解释：“‘帕西’（Parsi）一词，其意为波斯人（Persians），乃移居印度的波斯琐罗亚斯德教徒之后裔。”可见，自中世纪起在印度出现的“帕西”（Parsi）一词是“波斯人”之意。后来，随着伊斯兰教在南亚次大陆的广泛传播，在印度民间流行的语言中，“帕西”一词的词义逐渐扩大了范围。
