草本植物是一类植物的总称，但并非生物分类学中植物的一个单元，与草本植物相对应的概念是木本植物，人们通常将草本植物称作“草”，而将木本植物称为“树”。

Herbaceous plants (in botanical use frequently simply herbs) are plants that have no persistent woody stem above ground. Herbaceous plants may be annuals, biennials or perennials.
Annual herbaceous plants die completely at the end of the growing season or when they have flowered and fruited, and they then grow again from seed.
