Gummy smile

Gummy Smile also known as “gingival smile” or “excessive gingival display” refers to a condition in which there is a visibility of the anterior gingiva (gums) above the teeth when smiling.

The gumminess in the smile is often a combination of the amount of gum tissue display, the size and shape of the teeth, the length and the degree of movement of the upper lip and the vertical position of the upper jaw and teeth in relationship to the skull.
