逆行性生长（Anaplasia），是指成熟的正常细胞非正常地复归未成熟的细胞，为恶性肿瘤（malignant neoplasms）的指标性症状。大多数癌细胞会导致细胞去分化，让细胞无限制的分裂。但发生在干细胞的癌症，不会导致逆行性生长，而是使干细胞无法分化。

逆行性生长的细胞也往往形成巨核以及合胞体，正常细胞的N/C值（细胞核和细胞的比例）约为1：4或1：6，逆行性生长的细胞的N/C值约为1：1，N/C值的上升会造成细胞深染，为辨识细胞去分化与否的重要特性。除此之外，明显非典型的大量有丝分裂现象也是重要的特征，也可能在分裂时产生多个主轴，出现三极或四极的情形。此外，未分化的细胞通常不能识别其发展的方向（即失去正常的极性）。
