Part of the definition of a function. Possibly empty list that specifies what arguments can be used to call the function.

So, if you try to create a new list and set it to be the result of a call to one of these methods, you'll get an empty list.

The call operator is a pair of parentheses that encloses a (possibly empty) list of arguments that we pass to the function.
